The National House Doctor was set up by Kelvin Elliott and Daniel Hammond to do one job properly: get a property looking finished, fast, anywhere in the country.
Why we started
Kelvin has bought, refurbished and sold properties for years, and kept hitting the same wall. A house would complete, go straight back to market in the state it was bought in, and then sit there — while every week on the market quietly ate the margin.
Finding a decorator who could start next week, work to a deadline and leave a property photograph-ready was harder than finding the property. Do it in one town and you can build a relationship with a local team. Do it in six counties and you're starting from scratch every time.
So we built the thing we couldn't buy: one number to call, one fixed price, and a house fully decorated within a week, wherever it is.
The founders

Kelvin has spent his career on the buying side of property — mortgage brokerage, estate agency, development and direct acquisition — and runs a portfolio of his own across the North West and North Wales.
That's where the service came from. He knows what a property costs to hold, what a reduced asking price really costs, and how quickly a tired-looking house stops getting viewings.
He handles pricing, scheduling and the client side of every job.

Daniel is a professional contractor with experience across just about every kind of property there is — from royal residences to rental stock. Over the years he has managed teams of contractors on jobs of all sizes, the length of the country.
He and Kelvin have worked closely together on many projects. Between Daniel's trade experience and Kelvin's years of buying and selling, he knows exactly what a property needs to be presented at its best — and what can be left alone.
His side of the business is the decorating and the operations: the teams, the standard every job is signed off against, and getting each property finished on the date we gave you.
How we work
You get a fixed decorating figure from the floor plan. If something falls outside normal decorating — plastering, cork tiles, a wall that needs making good — we tell you before any work begins, not after.
One week's notice to schedule, and the house is fully decorated within a week of us starting. Add carpets or staging and it's photo-ready in around two weeks. The whole point of the service is that it fits between completion and listing, so a job that runs over defeats the purpose.
Filling, sanding and making good is the part nobody photographs and the part that decides how the finish looks. We'd rather spend the time there than hide it under another coat.
